Board Trustee Selection Process
Individuals interested in serving on the New Albany Chamber Board of Trustees are first asked to complete the online Board Trustee Application. After the application is received, a member of the Nominating Committee will reach out to schedule a meeting with the prospective candidate to learn more about their background, interests, leadership experience, and potential contributions to the Chamber Board. This conversation also provides an opportunity to discuss the expectations and responsibilities of Board service and answer any questions the candidate may have.
If there is mutual interest in moving forward following the meeting, the candidate is presented to the Nominating Committee for consideration. The Committee evaluates prospective trustees based on factors such as chamber engagement, leadership experience, community involvement, professional expertise, and the overall composition and needs of the Board.
Candidates approved by the Nominating Committee are included on the proposed slate of Incoming Trustees for the following calendar year. The Board of Trustees typically votes on the slate in October, and the Incoming Trustees are formally ratified at the Chamber's Annual Meeting in December.
New Trustees officially begin their terms on January 1.
