A non-profit association of New Albany area businesses and community organizations which promote the progress, well-being and improvement of the New Albany, Ohio business professional and civic community. The Chamber is privately funded through member dues and fundraisers. Benefits include a monthly newsletter with updates on area developments, discounts on services, opportunity to apply for a group health plan, and a vast array of networking, promotions, and special events. The President, the elected Board of Trustees, and member committees implement the program.

The New Albany Arts Council serves as an advocate for the cultural enrichment of the community, nurturing creative energies and raising public awareness and appreciation of the visual and performing arts. Programs include summer art camp for children, the annual summer arts festival, Concerts on the Commons series, Harvest the Arts Festival, annual scholarship awards and the New Albany Chorus.
 
New Albany Community Events Board

The New Albany Community Events Board is a Committee of volunteers and representatives from area organizations commissioned by the Village of New Albany to plan some community events. Currently, the events are a July Fourth Celebration which includes a fabulous fireworks, an Independence Day Parade and a Concert. The CEB also plans a Spring Fest which includes an egg hunt and games. Public and Private funds help support these free events.

The New Albany Community Foundation was created to benefit the quality of life and well being of those individuals who reside and work in the New Albany-Plain Township community. Such activity takes several forms: encouraging interacting partnerships in the community; increasing access to educational, cultural, and recreational experiences - including local heritage and the arts; encouraging optimal health; fostering educational development; and providing grants to schools and community initiatives. Individuals, organizations, and businesses may be interested in helping the community through a bequest, establishing a new fund, or gathering information on how they can support the charitable causes they care about.

New Albany Cooking with Friends is a non-profit cooking club established in 2001. It is comprised of a diverse group of individuals who bring passion, insight, expertise, time and resources to their pursuit of the culinary arts. Members meet regularly to explore new and time-tested menus from all over the world and apply their culinary skills to projects/activities that raise funds for the local community. New Albany Cooking with Friends, is publishing a community cookbook in 2007 entitled "A Signature Collection".

New Albany Founders Day
The New Albany Founders Day Commission organizes the day of festivities celebrating the founding of New Albany, held the third Saturday in May. A variety of organizations provide Representatives to serve on the committee. Volunteers are always welcome. Festivities include a community parade, rides, vendors, crafts and entertainment for the whole family. New Albany Health & Wellness Center

The New Albany Health & Wellness Center is a partnership between the New Albany-Plain Local School District and Mount Carmel Health Systems. It is the first center of its kind in Ohio - bringing primary health care, a school and community wellness center, and a child-care facility into one building located on the school campus. The Wellness Center performs three main services: community programs in health and wellness, a wellness curriculum integrated into school classrooms, and a Resource Center where visitors can use books, videotapes, files, and computer programs with Internet access to learn more about illnesses, treatment options, medications, or other health topics. Visitors to the Center can research topics on their own or ask for assistance. Materials may be checked out and all requests are confidential.

The New Albany Library branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library has a collection of more than 120,000 books, DVD's, videotapes, compact discs, books on tape and magazines, and offers access to the Internet, online databases and the latest in information technology.

New Albany Lions Club

Lions are men and women who volunteer their time to humanitarian causes. Through service projects and fundraising, they strive to help those in need. Service to the blind and visually impaired has become one of the association's most significant activities, resulting in the formation of Sight First, a global sight prevention program. Service activities also emphasize diabetes awareness, education and research; work with the physically and mentally impaired; environmental issues; community welfare; international understanding and youth. Membership is by invitation.

The Historical Society brings together those people interested in the history of New Albany and Plain Township. They work to discover and collect any material that will establish and illustrate the history of the area. A sense of community is thus promoted through the appreciation of local history. The Historical Society also gives tours of the area (transportation furnished by those who want to see the Historical Sites). Programs for school children are conducted by request (855-9861). Historcal Society Meetings are typically held the first Thursday of the Month at 7:00 p.m. at the Plain Township Firehouse (unless otherwise posted). New Members are Welcome!

The United Way works to measurably improve the quality of people's lives by bringing the community together to effectively address human needs and potential. The organization works to achieve measurable and meaningful results while building their assistance capacity, remaining committed to inclusiveness, collaboration and integration. Targeted concerns to be addressed through approved agencies include: more people with adequate jobs of minimum wage, every child entering kindergarten ready to learn, and every home free from violence. The United Way also continues to support core foundation services such as meal service delivery to the elderly and disaster relief during a fire or flood, which cut across all critical need areas.

Before and after school child care services are provided from 6:45 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. until 6 p.m. Wrap around kindergarten services for 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Curriculum emphasizes Adventures in Peace Making and academic support to help children with school issues.

The Franklin County 4-H program is designed for youth ages 9-18, creating positive environments to help them reach their fullest potential as competent, caring and contributing citizens. Youths are welcome to join an existing club or start a new one, should one of their parents be willing to volunteer as an advisor. Club format varies greatly as does the expertise of the advisors. More than 200 projects in a wide variety of subjects, from livestock to model airplanes, are offered. Members usually sign up for their projects in late fall, receive their project books in January and begin meeting on a regular basis until late Spring in preparation for project completion and the Franklin County Fair, for participating clubs. The OSU Extension is the umbrella organization for 4-H which works to provide practical education and information to the public from OSU's College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences. Services include Master Gardener, Family Nutrition, Senior Options Programs, and money management classes. Call 462-6700 for information on Extension services.

Boy Scouts works to build teamwork and self-confidence in young men from first grade through high school. Character building, citizenship, cultural awareness, community service, and physical, mental, and emotional fitness are among the program's aims. Young men are given the opportunity each month to participate in exciting outdoor challenges as well as leadership and service activities. Boy Scout Programs in the Columbus area also include career awareness, in-school scouting, and urban scouting activities to make sure that all school-age children have access to the resources Boy Scouts has to offer. In New Albany, membership drives begin in September; families should watch for more information at that time.

The Girl Scout Movement provides an informal educational program to inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism and service so that they will become resourceful, responsible citizens. Girl Scouts are empowering girls. Troops are available for girls ages kindergarten through twelfth grade. Leaders, assistants, and helpers are always welcome. Fun, friends, and helping others are all a part of the program. Most troops meet two times a month, after school or in the evening.
